The Prostate Cancer Charity is proud to be a beneficiary of The British Beard Club Northern Meet Up. We have received fantastic support from clubs and groups and in 2010/11 we received over £200,000 from clubs like yours which really does make a difference to the Charity. This event could not be taking place at a better time as March is our Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and we are encouraging people throughout the UK to hold events.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in men in the UK. Every year in the UK 37,000 men are diagnosed with the disease and 250,000 men are living with it. African Caribbean men are three times more likely to develop prostate cancer than white men.
With your help, The Prostate Cancer Charity is able to reach out to more men with prostate cancer and their families than ever before – providing them with essential information and support. We’re also making headway in research and campaigning to raise the profile of the disease which kills one man every hour in the UK.
Our work helps people like Ross: “When I was first told I had prostate cancer by my doctor I was obviously very shocked and didn’t really know what to do. But with the help of The Prostate Cancer Charity with their Helpline, online forum and all their information I was able to help myself to work it all out and feel a lot better about the whole situation. With the Charity’s support I was able to enjoy my life again.”
We would like to thank The British Beard Club, David Dade, Anthony Springall and everyone else who is contributing to making this event a success. We hope the day goes really well!
